The awards will be judged by a panel of industry leaders and experts. The judging is a rigorous two stage process including pre-scoring to determine shortlists and a judging meeting where entries are discussed and evaluated in detail to decide the winning entries.

From a transparency perspective, we may video aspects of the judging session to show on the evening and to give entrants an insight into why our winners were chosen.

The 2017 judging panel will be announced shortly.

Ed Fletcher

Ed started his IT career in 1988 at the IBM Hursley Software Lab. This proved to be a great foundation, covering everything from mainframes to PCs and system software to application integration. He specialised in Digital integration and mobility and lectured at IBM conferences and at the IBM Education Centre at La Hulpe.

Ed gained an MBA in 1999 and joined Vodafone UK in 2002. As lead architect, working on both web and retail, he was responsible for major upgrades to both environments before moving to a Group role in 2007. There he has designed and deployed internal cloud capability for use by the 21 Vodafone markets before moving into the Digital Optimisation space. Ed is now responsible for all Group Digital IT delivery and runs an internal digital technology agency delivering performance, SEO and analytics optimisation to Vodafone’s 21 markets, Vodafone Enterprise and the platform.

Thomas Armenante

Tom Armenante is the Ecommerce Manager for the high-end fashion brands Wolsey, Nicole Farhi and BLK DNM and is charged with maintaining the sites and driving online revenue for the brands.

Previously Tom was the Head of SEO at Matalan, where he was responsible for organic growth and working with the internal teams in driving e-commerce performance. During his time at Matalan he oversaw the successful backend migration onto the Shift Ecommerce platform.

 Prior to Tom’s role at Matalan he worked at the award-winning SEO Agency, Branded3 where he helped to formulate the search strategy for some of the UKs largest brands. Tom’s experience spans a variety of sectors including outdoor fitness, home renovation and financial comparison.

In his spare time he likes to put his knowledge to good use and is focussed on continuing the successful growth of his niche e-commerce site Gocableties.  

Peter Handley

Peter Handley is the Global SEO Manager for Sage, managing internal teams and agencies to grow the companies market share, traffic and conversions across all regions.

A technical SEO expert with a decade of experience, from running agency SEO departments, co-owning a digital marketing agency and freelancing, who has spoken at conferences across Europe. Peter has worked with a number of large and small companies throughout that time, on complex technical issues, innovative work and tool creation with hreflang and international configurations.

Peter also uses his skills to help local and environmental charitable organisations, to assist with digital marketing efforts and understand the potential of reaching out to new audiences.

Dan Barker


I work with website owners to help improve their results. Usually the broadest objectives behind my work are to 'make more money' or 'reduce costs' for companies, but they can cover any other business goal.
I have a background of more than 10 years working with companies to improve their results through the web. Alongside that, I have a first class degree in Software Engineering, a post-grad certificate in Digital Marketing (top of class) and scored 88% in my last Google Advertising exam.
Today I work either direct with clients or through a couple of great agencies.
Projects can be at a strategic or tactical level. They usually (but not always) involve one or more of the following:

I started SEO for real in 2004 by ranking 3rd in a SEO contest, but I come from a marketing and public relations background.  After discovering how to spam Google, I lived the life of super affiliate and clic whore until 2008 when I switched to the consulting side of the business.  Since then, I also started a speaker’s career and got more involved in the SEO community in France.  I am still running a few personal projects on the side, but my main focus is to rank high on Google for my clients.  Of course, I also embraced on other fields of search, especially SEA, Content Marketing and Social Media Marketing. Wolfgang Digital shot to international notoriety in 2014 when they "came out of the closet" as the owners of one of an online sex toy shop. The shop was opened as a 'be your own customer" project back in 2012 and led to many hilarious stories which simply had to be told.
